The calculator starts from the average weekly gross of each rig type running 5 days: US$3,500 for a 1-car trailer, US$4,500 for 2-car and US$6,000 for 3-car. Run more or fewer days and the revenue scales proportionally. These numbers come from our drivers’ real operations, not theoretical rate tables.
From gross revenue we compute net revenue (a 90% pass-through minus the flat weekly fee for your rig size) and subtract operating costs: diesel and maintenance, which run 35–40% of gross depending on trailer size, and weekly insurance (~US$100). If you don’t own equipment yet, the calculator can include truck rental (~US$800/week) and trailer rental (US$200–300/week by size).
The same rig can gross wildly different numbers depending on who negotiates the loads. The factors that matter most: lane and region (auction corridors and ports pay better), season (snowbirds in winter, auctions at month-end), deadhead (empty miles between delivery and the next pickup eat your profit) and negotiation speed: the best loads disappear in minutes.
